Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions Dr. Wiegand hears most often from new patients.

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Wiegand?
Not always. Many patients self-refer directly to our office. However, some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician or urologist. We recommend checking with your insurance provider ahead of time. We also welcome formal physician referrals.
How long will I wait for an appointment?
Please contact our office directly for the most current availability. We do our best to accommodate urgent consultations when clinically appropriate.
Can I get a second opinion even if I'm scheduled for surgery elsewhere?
Absolutely. Dr. Wiegand regularly provides second opinions for patients planning surgery at other institutions. Many patients find that a consultation gives them confidence in their chosen path — or reveals an alternative worth considering.
What should I do if I have an urgent urological issue?
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Our office contact form and phone line are for non-urgent scheduling only.
Does Dr. Wiegand perform surgery at multiple hospitals?
Dr. Wiegand operates at Orlando Regional Medical Center and Orlando Surgery Center. All surgeries are performed within the Orlando Health system.
How do I access the Orlando Health patient portal?
You can access your records, test results, and appointment information through the Orlando Health online portal. Our office can assist you with enrollment at your first visit.
